Sinharaja Forest Reserve is a national park and a biodiversity hotspot in Sri Lanka. It is of international significance and has been designated a Biosphere Reserve and World Heritage Site by UNESCO. This tropical rain forest extends from Hiniduma/Neluwa to Deniyaya with Gin Ganga as the Southern border. This is the only virgin rain forest in Sri Lanka with rare species of flora and fauna, which was reason to be declared a World Heritage Site. The forest takes up about 2300 hectares and about 20% of it is in the Southern Province. A quick trip around the surrounding areas will expose you to waterfalls and the Sinharaja tea factory.
